Most Haunted house in New Zealand । Conjuring Ghost Every Night 1.30 Am Thy Come here

Lake Alice Hospital was once a rural psychiatric facility situated in the Manawatu region, catering to the full mental health spectrum, from troubled youth and the criminally insane to the elderly with dementia.
The sprawling complex, opened in August 1950, spread out across 56 hectares of land consisting of ten two-level villas, each with eleven beds for patients, four two-level villas housing 50 beds, a maximum security wing, morgue, chapel, library, staff quarters, administration building, landscaped grounds complete with vegetable gardens, sporting areas and two swimming pools. The hospital even had its own fire station.
The facility slowly shut down during the mid 1990s, with plans to assimilate patients back into the community. It was an idea that divided many in the community, as public safety concerns came into question. Full closure of the hospital was implemented in October 1999.
Former patients of the hospital’s child and adolescent unit have made allegations of abuse that happened at the hospital during the 1970s, including the use of electroconvulsive therapy and paraldehyde injections as punishment. The New Zealand government issued an apology in 2001, and has so far paid out a total of $10.7 million in compensation to 183 former patients.
Auckland accountant and property developer’s group Lake Hicks Ltd purchased the buildings and grounds in July 2006, though redevelopment plans came to a halt after the new owners fell into financial difficulties and could go no further with it.
Lake Alice was sold on once more in December 2008 with plans to demolish most of the buildings to make way for farmland after plans for a subdivision failed. At this time, only a handful of buildings remain, abandoned and derelict, having been vandalised by trespassing urban explorers and thrill seeking teens looking for a spooky place to party. Much of the complex has gone and the remaining villas, which had asbestos roofing, are being carefully demolished one by one.

There are many stories that have circulated through the generations of the Lake Alice Hospital being actively haunted by spirits. Staff working their shifts have told of mysterious apparitions, voices, being touched by invisible hands, surgical equipment moving without human interaction and figures seen wandering the halls.

The History of Conjuring

The Conjuring' IS based on a 'true story'…our story. However, the film is not based on my trilogy 'House of Darkness House of Light'. It is, instead, based upon the case files of Ed & Lorraine Warren. ... There are liberties taken and a few discrepancies but overall, it is what it claims to be — based on a true story, believe it or not.-Andrea Perron (in a Letter to Horror-Movies.ca, June 2013)

QUESTIONING THE STORY:

How long did the Perron Family live in the Rhode Island farmhouse?

The real Perron family lived in the farmhouse for approximately ten years. Located in the small country town of Harrisville, Rhode Island, Roger Perron and his wife Carolyn purchased the home in the winter of 1970. The 200 acre property offered plenty of space for them to raise their five daughters: Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cynthia and April. They moved out in June of 1980.

Did Lorraine Warren and the real Perron family support the making of the movie?

(Click to Enlarge) The real Perron sisters (top) with their movie counterparts (bottom) in 2012.

Yes. Our research into The Conjuring true story reveals that paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren acted as a consultant to director James Wan and the filmmakers. She even visited the Wilmington, North Carolina set on the lot of EUE/Screen Gems Studios. The film itself was mostly inspired by she and her late husband Ed Warren's case files and recordings dealing with the 1970s Perron family haunting.

The entire Perron family also put their support behind the film, having already come together to support daughter Andrea Perron's self-published 2011 book about their experience, titled House of Darkness House of Light (available in the right column). Like Lorraine, various members of the Perron family, who where friends with producer Tony DeRosa-Grund, also visited the Wilmington, NC set. Andrea, as expected, has been the most vocal of the group while her sister Christine has been the most reluctant to talk about her experiences in the house.

Who was the real Bathsheba

Most people love a good haunted house story and it seems that the more lurid it can possibly be, the better.  Everyone has probably been exposed to the typical ghost story involving a haunted house with a terrifying specter that sends residents running out screaming, but, alas, these are just stories…unlike many others.  Putting urban legends and pure speculation aside, there are known occurrences – a plethora of them actually – that involve the paranormal, many of which have been reported for years and have been documented by paranormal investigators.  Stereotypical ghost stories have the tendency to produce a feeling of the far-fetched whenever the word “paranormal” is brought up, but what you’re about to read are not your typical legends and fables.
All throughout the country there are houses of all different styles and time periods, which have been home to people from all walks of life, from the most ordinary farmers to the wealthiest businessmen and high society families.  They may all share quite a few differences, but they all share one common trait: they’re haunted.  Now, don’t necessarily start producing visions of terror at the thought of haunted house, as not all hauntings are malevolent.  In fact, most haunted houses don’t come with any type of negative activity, even though the word “haunted” has definitely acquired a negative connotation.  Many haunted houses are simply the eternal homes of former owners/residents, all of whom are either friendly or oblivious towards the living.
Of course, the negative imagery of a haunted house exists for a reason, and some of the houses provided in this list of 38 homes offer up the kind of hauntings you most likely would never want to encounter in your own home.  Sometimes, especially when traumatic deaths occur (think murder and suicide here), spirits tend to hold a deep hostility to anything and anyone around them.  This hostility can manifest itself in some disturbing ways, such as outright violence towards the occupants or visitors of a house.  Experienced by guests of houses that are now hotels, by staff members of those turned into museums or business spaces, and by paranormal investigators out to discover the truth, the houses listed here exhibit enough of a diverse range of hauntings to make you sit up and rethink your views on the topic.

A dead hunted house wich hide 108 yare ago

Lending a helping hand in solving problems especially for a friend is always recognised as a good deed. But what if luck is not on your side and that problem becomes your problem.
This is tale from my past which was horrifying and beyond anyone's wildest imagination, buried in me for so, so many years. A true story where evil spirits do exist and reveal themselves to prove their existence and their evil powers to the earth beings.
AND the story begins... Thirteen years ago...
I was doing my first year law degree at ATC College in Kuala Lumpur. My college mate, Anu [fictitious name] was a shy, quiet girl who always sits at the corner of the room all by herself away from all of us. She speaks only a few words, only if she is asked a question. But she seems to be a pleasant person. Maybe she is a quiet person.
Anu has a health problem, she faints in class quiet often. All of a sudden, Anu will fall off her chair and thereafter after a couple of minutes she regains consciousness. The first time she fainted we rushed her to the nearest clinic. The doctor was not able to explain why she gets these fainting spells. She says that she has gone through a thorough medical check up and a CT scan and she was said to have a clean bill of health.
Anu was determined to continue with her studies despite her health problem. We were very worried for her and tried to talk to her but she moves away from us the moment we question her on her fainting spells. I was pretty sure there is a deep dark secret that is buried within her that she is not sharing with us...
One fine day, she revealed her dark secret to me.
Well, I am quite a pious girl, mother loving, temple going kind of a daughter. Exams were drawing closer and hmm... Time has come to seek God's Blessings [yes, I look for God on desperate times, full of guilt as always]. I decided to pay a visit to the nearest temple to my college at Petaling Street, Goddess Mariamman Temple. The Great Goddess Mariamman serves her disciples with health, wealth and happiness.
I bought a garland [flowers tied together with thread to be laid around the Goddess neck falling downwards, as an offering for her blessings] and gave the same to the priest who would then chant mantras in Sanskrit language and at the end of the prayers, the Priest would give the devotee a bunch of flowers with a banana placed on betel leaves from the altar. With this held in our hands, we are to go around the Temple three times [a Hindu's belief as a sign of respect for God]. As I was about to complete my third round, I saw a familiar face, alas, it was Anu who was sitting down in the temple area. I completed my prayers and seated myself beside her. She looked at me with a faint smile. Her eyes were blurry with water as though she cried and I asked her what was wrong with her. Anu was reluctant to speak initially. You see, I am a very persistent person at times and upon me insisting, she opened up finally. The dark secret that she kept hidden away from all of us. All these while.
Anu was from a poor family but she was a studious child from young, a top scorer and was shining all the way through her studies. She was envied by her relatives for her great achievements in studies as well as other co-curicular activities. She told me that her only dream was to become a Lawyer and when she was not offered the course she wanted in the local university, she opted to take an External Law Programme privately. Her parents were very supportive all the way through, her parents were rubber tappers who were illiterates.
Anu was offered a Scholarship by the college. She was the happiest person on earth at that time when she received the news as she was given a chance of her lifetime to be able to pursue her childhood ambition after all.
She told me a couple of days after she had enrolled herself in the College, she used to have nightmares like someone or something was trying to strangle her. She did not tell her mum initially but then she started to have fainting spells. She then thought that she has some medical problems and decided to return home for the weekend. You see, she stays in Taiping and she has to travel four hours to reach home. Her parents took her to see a doctor and a medium too. The doctors were unable to tell what is with her for sure but the medium told her a different story altogether.
The medium told her that Anu's Uncle and Aunty were really envious of the family as their own children turned out to be useless, good for nothing kids. The Uncle was her father's only brother who swindled the family estate by faking the brother's signature and transferring the Property to himself solely. Now he is seeking an advice of a wizard who practices black magic to prevent Anu from pursuing her education due to jealousy. According to the medium, her uncle has removed a strand of her hair and gave it to the wizard who in turn tied it to a self made puppet and is casting spells on her daily. The medium told her that he will try to cleanse her from the evil which was cast on her but there will still be a slight effect on her as the strand of hair is in the wizard's hands. Anu and her family were devastated to hear the story. They felt hurt as they were innocent and did not mean harm to anyone at all. Anu returned to college with a heavy heart and confused mind.
Since then Anu was never the same person. Although she said she knew that something was wrong with her but that never stopped her from fulfilling her dreams but every day was a night mare for her. She said it is so embarrassing to fall all of a sudden in public.
I was really touched after hearing her story and then I told her that Goddess Mariamman is worshiped by so many people of different religion around the world and I told her to pray hard to her and make a vow, and once she has been cleansed of the evil, she should make offerings to the Goddess "in a big way", meaning have special prayers in the temple just for the Goddess. Anu smiled and said she would do so. We bid goodbye and both of us headed back home, each of us with our own destiny.
I lived in USJ during my college years. It takes about an hour or more to reach home from college. I reached home at about 8.30 pm that day and was quiet surprise to find both my room mates were not at home. Then I noticed a note at the Notice Board that we have placed on the wall at our rented apartment where we pin on pieces of information for the others notification. To my dismay, my room mates will not be with me for the night, as one has left for her hometown and the other is expected to be back the next day after her overnight stay at her relatives' house.
I hated the idea of being alone especially on this particular day as I felt eerie and alone. Well, what choice do I have anyway. So I braved myself, kept all the lights on at the apartments even... The bathroom light. I did my homework and I saw the time was almost 1.00 am in the morning. I was a little sleepy and decided to hit the bed.
As I was about to doze off, I felt that there was a something heavy walking on my bedside, as though it was a human body with lots and lots of weight. I turned around and saw nothing. I dismissed the idea of being frighten and although I had a little fear but I thought maybe I was hallucinating.
I then pulled my bed up to the living room and left my bedroom door open ajar. I had a little altar on my table with the photograph of Goddess Saraswathi [goddess for education] together with the holy ashes. I placed the holy ashes on my forehead and prayed and then I went to sleep again. I saw the time was almost three in the morning. I laid down on my bed facing my room as I could see the picture of my Goddess and then... A little while later the door opened by itself slowly and I saw a figure of a puppet dressed with white dress, more like a nurses' outfit with long hair covering its face, walking towards me. It had limbs but no fingers and feet. Its body was hairy and smelt burnt. I started to sweat but unable to move, due to fear. What the hell is that thing! I started to chant my holy mantras as it is now where I really needed God's help the most! Then the figure disappeared all of a sudden. Then a few seconds later I heard three claps of hands behind me. I did not turn around to see as I remembered my grandma's advice not to look behind if there is a call of name or knock three times by something else other than a human. I prayed hard and a while later everything silent down. I did not know who to call and seek advice other than my parents but I waited until the first sun rise and called them to inform them the misery I went through that night. My parents took the first flight down to Kuala Lumpur and I waited for them in my college. I took them home and Father insisted that we lighted up the altar. As soon as Father lit the altar, the florescent light in my room exploded. We were shocked. My parents told me that something was terribly wrong in the apartment.
My friend returned to the apartment a few minutes later and saw me packing up. I related to her the night's event. She was very calm and she told me that she is a staunch Muslim and nothing is more superior than God. She chose to stay on. I left the apartment that day with mum and dad to stay with them in the Hotel. We manage to take a few things and decided to return the next day for the rest of the things.
The three of us were not able to comprehend what had happened. I told mum that I had this funny feeling where maybe the evil spirit disturbing Anu followed me back home. I related Anu's story to mum and mum was convinced that maybe the spirit was angry with me for interfering with its hauntings. Mum told me that we will look for a new house/apartment for rent the next day.
We left the next day to the apartment. I opened the door and as I entered in, my room mate ran out from her room and she looked pale like a devil. I asked her what happened and she told me the day I left, that night she was alone in her room and she fell asleep after a while. She then heard a knock at her door and it opened on its own and a beautiful Malay girl dressed in "baju kebaya" with a headress covering her face was standing at the door. Her skin was white and she sat beside my friend and started to talk to her in a language that she could not understand. It seemed to my friend that the lady figure was talking to her for hours but my friend was unable to understand even a single word.
First thing in the morning, she went to see the Ustaz [Holy man] who told her that the spirit followed her friend [that is me] home, it was an angry spirit with a lot of vengeance as its hands were tied and not able to have any freedom. The spirit was caught in between two worlds, unable to return to its world nor it's master is not calling it back to him. He then gave her some blessed rock salt to throw around in the apartment and a thin metal piece with holy words inscribed on it to be placed in the front of the apartment to cast away the evil spirit and a talisman for her to wear. My parents and I were too shocked and lost for words. I asked her what she intends to do next. She said that she will not be staying in the apartment if the problem persists. Anyway I was sure I was leaving! Even though the spirit leaves the apartment, the thought of it will always haunt me. I wished her all the best and apologised to her if I have caused the chaos. We left a little while later.
I managed to get an apartment for rent in Bangsar the following day. I moved into the apartment and settled in. Mum and Dad left that day as Dad had to report for duty the next day. I called my friend the same day and she told me she is also moving out together with my other room mate who also knew about the strange happenings. Well, the Landlord was wondering why we were all moving out all of a sudden. We decided to keep the strange happenings as a secret as there was no haunting after the day my friend visited the Ustaz [holyman].
I returned to college and met Anu who looked a little more cheerful than a few days before. She told me that she felt so much better after her prayers at the Goddess Mariamman temple and she did not have the fainting spells for a couple of days [she faints almost every other day]. As days went by Anu recovered and she eventually graduated as a lawyer. Anu invited me for the special prayers she held for the Goddess Mariamman at Petaling Street. [her vow was fulfilled after all]
I never told Anu the strange happenings in my apartment after my meeting with her in the temple. I was happy for her and satisfied in a way to see a friend being released from evil spirit and today, Anu leads a normal life with a wonderful husband and children.
Sometimes, I wonder where the evil spirit went, maybe it returned to its master or went back to its own world or is it still haunting the apartment...?

1) EASTERN STATE PENITENTIARY, PENNSYLVANIA, UNITED STATES

By Davidt8 (Own work) [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons
Built in 1829, Eastern State Penitentiary is a former prison in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It’s known for being the very first prison of its kind to introduce solitary confinement, or what they used to call, the Pennsylvania System. Prisoners were sent to solitary during this time as a form of rehabilitation. They would be completely isolated, living alone, eating alone, and even exercising alone in their own individual yards. Whenever an inmate left his cell, a black hood would be placed over his head to assure he remained in confinement.
Due to Eastern States’ harsh approach, many prisoners were drove to insanity, and as a result the Pennsylvania System was scrapped in 1913. From then until 1970 it was used as a regular prison, and held the likes of Al Capone and the bank robber, Willie Sutton.
Reports of the paranormal have been going on since the 1940’s, but ever since the stone prison was abandoned in 1971, paranormal experiences have seemingly increased.
Reports include:
  • Shadowy figures that seem to quickly turn away when approached
  • a dark figure that is occasionally seen in the guard tower
  • an evil cackling is heard coming from cellblock 12
  • shadowy figures have been seen sliding down walls in cellblock 6
  • ghostly faces have been witnessed in cellblock 4
  • and strange sounds such as disembodied footsteps, distant talking, and banging of cell doors have also been heard.

2) WAVERLY HILLS SANITORIUM - KENTUCKY, UNITED STATES

Waverly Hills
Waverly Hills was originally a two-story wooden building that was opened in 1910, however the building you see today was constructed in 1926. It served as a tuberculosis hospital throughout the early to mid 20th Century, a time when the disease was at its worst. It is believed that as many as 63,000 patients died there. The death toll as well as the supposed mistreatment  and questionable experimental procedures on patients, are all recipes that may be behind one of the most haunted buildings in the whole of the US.
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium has built quite the reputation over the years as more and more people are allowed to investigate the premises. This has thrown up some incredible evidence over the years. It has featured on shows such as Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters (TAPS), and our very own Most Haunted. TAPS captured a figure on their thermal imaging camera that seemed to be walking across the hall. The figure was about 3ft tall, they later found out that the ghost of a young boy named Tim has been spotted there before.
There are vast amounts of varying reports, including full bodied apparitions, fleeting shadows, screams from empty rooms, footsteps, sudden cold spots, and disembodied voices among many others.

3) MONTE CRISTO HOMESTEAD - NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA

Monte Cristo Homestead
The historic Monte Cristo Homestead in Junee, New South Wales is regarded as the most haunted location in Australia. It’s reputation is believed to stem from the amount of tragic events that have occurred there since it was built in 1885. From the time of its construction up to 1948, the Crawley family owned and resided in the property. During this time the family laid witness to many deaths, including the tragic death of a young child who was dropped down the stairs. A maid to the family is believed to have fallen from the balcony, and a stable boy apparently burned to death on the property.
There was also a mentally ill man named Harold (the son of a caretaker) who was chained up in the caretaker’s cottage for 40 years. He was found curled up next to the body of his dead mother, and sent to a mental institute where he died shortly after.
The tragedy doesn’t end with the Crawley’s. After the house was left in 1948, it was taken over by a group of caretakers, one of whom was murdered in the caretaker’s cottage.

4) CASTLE OF GOOD HOPE - CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

The Castle of Good Hope, South Africa
The Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town, South Africa was built in the 17th century by the Dutch East India Company. It’s the country’s oldest colonial building, originally serving as a replenishment station for ships passing the treacherous waters of the Cape.
The first reported paranormal occurrence was when the apparition of a tall gentleman was seen in 1915 on one of the castles’ ramparts. The man wasn’t seen again until 1947, when he was seen on a regular basis over a two week period. He would be seen jumping off the side of one of the castle walls, and walking between the bastions Leerdam and Oranje.
One of the most popular stories associated with the Castle is of the former governor Pieter Gysbert van Noodt. He died on 23 April 1728, the same day he had sentenced to death seven soldiers who were caught attempting to desert the military. It’s believed one of the soldiers placed a curse on him and demanded he came to watch the execution, which he didn’t. Later that day, Van Noodt was found dead slouched over his desk with a look of terror on his face.
Another famous haunting is of the Lady in Grey. She has been witnessed running through the castle holding her face and crying hysterically. However, since a woman’s body was found during recent excavations her ghost hasn’t been reported.
Sometime in the 1700’s, a soldier was found hanging from the bell rope in the bell tower, which overlooks the entrance to the castle. After his death, the bell tower was sealed off however, to this day the bell has been known to strike off its own accord. There’s also the ghost of a black dog who has been known to pounce on unsuspecting visitors, then simply vanish into thin air.

5) THE TOWER OF LONDON - LONDON, ENGLAND

The Tower of London
With a history of torture and execution going back over 900 years, the Tower of London is regarded by many as one of the most haunted places in the UK. It was originally built in 1078 by William the Conqueror, and has served a major role in the history of England ever since.
There have been many reports of the paranormal at the Tower of London over the years. The most famous of all the ghosts that live within its walls, is Anne Boleyn, the wife of King Henry VIII. She was beheaded in 1536, and her headless body has been seen walking the Tower’s corridors and often near the spot of her demise.
Other full bodied apparitions have also been seen including Lady Jane Grey, who was spotted by a guardsman in 1957. In the White Tower the White Lady has been seen, often standing at window, where she once stood waving to her children on the other side of the building.
Perhaps the most spine chilling of all reports includes the mysterious appearance of two children. They have been witnessed throughout the rooms of the castle. They’re often seen in their nightgowns, holding hands and with a look of terror on their faces. It is believed these are two former Prince’s, who were sent tot he Tower after they were deemed illegitimate by Parliament. They vanished one day and it was assumed that they were murdered by order of their uncle, the Duke of Gloucester. Apparently, two small skeletons were exhumed beneath a staircase in the White Tower.

6) ANCIENT RAM INN, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND

Ancient Ram Inn
Built in 1145, the Ancient Ram Inn is believed to be the most haunted house in the entire British Isles, and perhaps the most haunted house in the world. The tales of child sacrifices, devil worship, and evil spirits are believed to be behind the terrifying happenings in this building. The Inn was built on the intersection of 2 ley lines, what many people believe is a conductor for spiritual activity. In addition, an ancient Pagan burial ground is said to have resided in the property over 5,000 years ago.
During its time as a bed and breakfast, people would often flee in the middle of the night, often seeing full bodied apparitions in their rooms, the feeling of being touched/pulled, disembodied voices, and the just the general feeling of evil.
John, the current owner and resident of the Ram Inn, has reported that on his first night in the house in 1968, he felt a presence grab his arm, before being dragged out of bed and across the room! John has since found evidence of devil worship and ritual sacrifice. He found two child skeletons underneath the staircase, as well as broken daggers. He continues to experience the hauntings and the attacks to this day.
